Since the start of the pandemic, many of us have been forced to adopt a ‘new normal’. One thing we’re thankful for? How extra time at home has given us the chance to truly embrace our surroundings.
Over the past six months, we’ve found pleasure in the little details – the wildlife in our parks, the 1930 ceramic tiles in the Underground, the history in our streets – and we’ve discovered new places altogether.
This newfound gratitude inspired our latest collection, From London with Love – an open love letter to our city. To extend the appreciation, we asked six women of spirit to share their most missed locations and the new-season handbags they’ll be taking on their next visit. “During lockdown, I missed going into Manchester city centre so much. From after-work drinks and brunch at the weekend to just simply roaming and taking in the architecture – not being able to visit any of my favourite spots made me so sad.
“I’m super happy to be back, safely exploring Manchester again with this delicious Liverpool Street 2.0 bag in tow. Red is one of my favourite colours to wear so, as soon as I saw this, I knew it had to be mine. The perfect shape and size for everyday use, it adds something special to every outfit.”
“Now we’re back together – Alice stayed in her family home outside of London during lockdown – we’ve been spending time wandering through the quieter streets of our city. We’ve learnt to look up and really appreciate the iconic landmarks that make us feel at home!”
Alice (Belle): “I’m so particular about the bags I carry – for me, it’s all about function, balance and quality. The Silk Street bag ticks all of those boxes. Not only can you really fill it up, it opens up wide so you can easily find your essentials. Its handles are really comfortable on the shoulder and it has reinforced pads to protect its base should you need to put it on the floor.”
Hannah (Bunty): “I have a real thing for small bags and immediately loved this mini Liverpool Street 2.0 style. The smooth tan leather combined with the chunky gold zips give it a ’70s feel, which I love. The bag works so well with lots of colours and its interior pockets make it perfect for carrying all your everyday bits too. I’ll be stashing my hand sanitiser and masks in one for easy access.”
“Spots like Mayfair continuously make me realise how much I missed London during lockdown. I love how all Radley London bags are inspired by the city – they’re stylish yet practical and the craftsmanship is amazing.”
“There are so many beautiful places in London that I love, but during these turbulent times I have developed a soft spot for going to independent grocers. I love supporting family-led businesses and going to buy my food from these gorgeous little shops genuinely makes me feel happy.
“Seeing all the vibrant colours and smelling all of the fresh scents honestly makes me feel so at peace. If I’m ever feeling stressed, I’ll go walk around and get inspired to cook something delicious at home which I find so therapeutic.
“The Wood Street Quilted Cross Body is my ultimate shopping companion. The perfect padded design for autumn adventures in the capital – its soft leather and stitching are outstanding – it’s a pure joy to wear.”
“I managed to sneak up to Covent Garden and it reminded me how much I’ve missed seeing my home city – from the hustle and bustle of people shopping to tourists wandering around the streets. Now that everything’s slowed down, it’s like looking at my beautiful London with fresh eyes.
“I took my Liverpool Street 2.0 handbag with me – its neutral colour fits in nicely with my wardrobe and I love the gold hardware. It’s smart enough to be carried as an evening bag yet features a shoulder strap so I can wear it when I’m on the go during the day. It’s like a little Tardis of a bag with amazing craftsmanship!”
