How to Wear Liverpool Street 2.0 with Fashion Expert Lily Russo-Bah

23 August 2022

As a Who What Wear contributor, entrepreneur, and mum of a toddler, Lily Russo-Bah leads a busy life. And she needs a handbag that can keep up. With the space for her essentials and most importantly the style this former fashion editor is known for. We knew Liverpool Street 2.0 was the one for her. See what happened when Lily tried out three different styles of our artisan crafted bestseller.

How did you style each bag and where would you wear them?

“My wardrobe is a riot of colour, and I love to accessorise with jewellery and sunglasses, so it’s essential I have neutral handbags like the Liverpool Street 2.0 medium flapover cross body that not only go with different prints and colours but also help tie a busy outfit together. Even before I had a toddler to chase after, I always without fail would have a long strap cross body bag to get me from A to B hands-free. The glossy leather of this bag can easily be dressed up or down and would definitely be my autumn bag of choice.”

“This season I’m loving all the '70s inspired prints that are coming out, but certain prints require a pale-coloured bag to lift the outfit and tie it all together. My Liverpool Street 2.0 Faux Croc in Clay is light enough to work with pastel prints in the sun but will carry through to autumn against darker prints and chunky neutral knits alike.”

“This is how I would do formal for a business meeting. I always try to include colour in my outfits, however muted. This tie-dye knitted co-ord with longline blazer allows me to show my personality, while also looking the part. The Liverpool Street 2.0 medium zip-top multiway will carry all of my office essentials.”

What do you love most about each of the three Liverpool Street 2.0 bags you’ve chosen?

“My Liverpool Street 2.0 cross body has an almost horseshoe shape and the super glossy leather has a very polished luxe feel, very similar to that of bridle leather. It’s such an easy piece and most importantly the perfect size to run around London with.”

“I wear a lot of colour and prints so a neutral-toned bag like Liverpool Street 2.0 Faux Croc always works well. The croc-effect leather is great for autumn where I will be layering it with other textures. It’s an easy way to add interest to more practical autumnal outfits, plus it’s the perfect size.”

“There’s something incredibly chic about the Liverpool Street 2.0 multiway bag - I love the clean lines and curved edges. Because my job is so varied, I can go from having a super smart meeting to wanting to be comfortable in the office, so I always opt for bags that have many uses. This bag is roomy enough to carry all my workday essentials but small enough to carry every day on my arm.”

Which key handbag trends should we look out for this season?

“Extremes of mini and maxi bags have been dominating everywhere from the designer catwalks to our Instagram feeds for a few seasons now - and are set to stay.”

Radley London tip:

We love a cute mini size too, like new Curzon Street in croc-effect leather. If you prefer something a bit more spacious, our slouchy Hay’s Mews grab bag ticks off this season’s trends.

Where are you looking forward to exploring with your new Radley handbags?

“After two years of lockdowns, where I stuck mostly to the area I live in, I’m looking forward to heading out on longer walks across London. I used to love taking the train to the Southbank and meandering down the river or heading over to Colombia Road Market on a Sunday to pick up some fresh flowers. I’ve also rediscovered Hampstead and all the wonderful places to sit and watch the world go by.”

Thanks for the renewed inspiration for our Where We Wander campaign, Lily. We’ll see you in Hampstead.
