HOW WE CHOOSE LEATHER
Leather is in our DNA. And we never stop striving to set a new standard for quality. That’s why we know that leather sourced responsibly (from Leather Working Group-accredited tanneries) is softer to the touch and to the planet.
What does the Leather Working Group do?
It’s a not-for-profit organisation responsible for the world's leading environmental certification for the leather manufacturing industry
Ensures high standards throughout the supply chain with regular audits of its members and provides guidelines for continual improvement
They're working to support the leather industry to achieve deforestation-free supply chains
Some more facts about our leather
It’s a by-product of the food industry
We’ll never use exotic or endangered skins
Any croc or snake effect leather you see from us is simply an embossing technique
We cut our leather with care to minimise waste
EVEN BETTER WITH AGE
Our Designers are experts in choosing the right leather for the right bag. From slouchy styles like Hillgate Place, to incredible textures that work best on structured styles like Liverpool Street 2.0 Croc.
Did you know?
It takes 46 pieces of leather to achieve that slouchy style for each Hillgate Place medium grab multiway.
Our partners in India will send a selection to choose from each season, and it’s a painstaking process to match a new bag with the right leather. We’re known for colour, right? Well not every kind of leather will look its best in a bright orange or vibrant blue.
AND WE CONTINUE TO INNOVATE WITH OUR FABRICS
Did you know that all of our new non-leather styles are crafted with recycled material? Each one is part of our Radley Responsible collection.
