Radley London X Royal Ascot 2021
We’ve been counting down the days until we can get dressed up again. Now the time’s finally here. Our first event? Radley London is off to the races.
03 March 2022
We’re so excited to unveil our Royal Ascot 2021 collection. As an Official Licensee, we’ve collaborated to create brand new styles for the social event of the season
Why do we love race day? The style, the celebration, the heritage of the event – Royal Ascot shares all of our Radley London values. In fact, it’s what inspires this year’s collection of handbags and purses: Tradition. Heritage. Craftsmanship.
Our ultra-skilled team drew upon leather saddlery techniques to create these designs. They feature vintage finishing touches. Some even boast bespoke in-house illustrations. Sorry, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. (We told you we’re excited.) Let us introduce the new collection properly.
Leading the collection are some of this season’s must-have handbag styles. Let’s start with the vintage trunk. We know you’ll love its chic, structured shape and the woven leather top handle. It’s the kind of bag that easily slips into the crook of your elbow. Keeping your hands free for that refreshing glass of bubbly.
Another iconic bag. This is the wristlet clutch. The go-to for any special occasion. It’s compact, lightweight and fuss-free. This Royal Ascot edition also has special details that represent the races: gold stud hardware and an illustrated horse print, hand-drawn by Sally, one of our Senior Designers.
Sally notes: “It was so important for us to bring the spirit of Royal Ascot to the designs by sketching a race in motion and capturing that excitement people feel at the highlight of the racing calendar.”
Prefer something slightly larger? Our mini shopper has all the same equestrian-inspired features and offers a little more internal space. (Read: room for your must-have make up, a hairbrush and pair of sunglasses.)
It’s time to show you one of our brand-new silhouettes. A style that brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘saddle bag’. This flapover shoulder is, quite literally, inspired by a horse’s saddle. And its equestrian influence doesn’t stop there. See the curved loop hardware on the flap? This detail is based on the shape of the stirrups.
Carefully moulded soft leather. Contrast mock croc trims. A selection of rich shades including Salk Lake pink, Dark Butter brown and wear-with-anything-Chalk. We’re having trouble picking our favourite.
They say less is more. They also say the best things come in small packages. Both are true of our knotted clutch. It’s crafted with the softest sheep’s leather. And it’s free of embellishments, meaning it’s tied leather handle can steal the spotlight. Did we mention that it unties so you can adjust its length?
Buying your next refreshment. Collecting your winnings. This is what our designers had in mind when designing these leather purses. And both sizes come with Sally’s beautiful horse and jockey illustration.
We can’t wait to get dressed up for Royal Ascot. Even if we’re only watching from our living rooms. For whatever you have planned. Race day, garden parties, long-awaited brunch dates. These styles are perfect when the dress code is a little fancier.
