In cinemas from March 6th, the inspirational film Military Wives tells an empowering real-life story of friendship, love and support on the home front.

As their partners serve in Afghanistan, a group of British women form the very first military choir; helping each other to overcome their fears for loved ones and becoming a global phenomenon in the process.

From the director of The Full Monty – and starring the iconic Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Hogan – the feel-good film is a true must-see.

Ahead of its release we met the inspirational women behind the film – Emma, Kizzy and Dionne of the Military Wives Choirs – to share their incredible stories.

“The Military Wives Choirs are like another family to me”

More than a hobby, the Military Wives Choirs became Emma’s happy place. The choir resolved her isolation by creating a trusted circle of friends around her and, most importantly, helped Emma find herself – the person she’d been missing since late childhood.

“The choir gave me confidence to be who I want to be”

After serving in the RAF herself, Kizzy married a soldier and together they move frequently. Wherever she goes, the choir is her instant source of friends; not only have they given Kizzy the confidence to sing solos, they’ve encouraged her to take up acting again. Her first film? Military Wives.

“Together, we have done so many things I’d never have done”

A member for only 16 months, Dionne has performed at both the Menin Gate Memorial and London’s West End with her Military Wives family. When her partner’s away, Dionne finds their support immeasurable – she only wishes she’d been more aware of Military Wives Choirs earlier in her husband’s career.
